BACKGROUND

The Singapore Silat Federation hopes to raise funds for its programmes and services through the jointly-organised Banquet with Singapore Malay Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SMCCI)

The event is serves as another avenue for the Federation to generate on-going income to supplement its grants.

OBJECTIVE

To garner assistance and support for Singapore Silat Federation in its efforts to promote Pencak Silat to the world and install Pencak Silat as a competitive sport in world major games.

TARGET GROUP

Primarily, the Gala Dinner aims to reach out to Ministers, Ministries, MPs, government bodies, statutory boards, grassroots organisations, corporate organisations and MNCs.

Secondarily, the event aims to garner support from affiliates, clubs, athletes, parents, NSAs, SSC as well as the community/public.

EVENT LOGO & THEME

‘Quill'

The event identity is represented by a quill pen. It is a traditional instrument of writing that embraces the signing of partnerships. In the efforts to embrace globalisation and at the same time preserving tradition, SMCCI & SSF are working together to create synergies and opportunities for the community.

‘Green'

Green symbolizes hope, growth, health and approval. The color injects a certain freshness and sincerity in SMCCI & SSF efforts to stay relevant in our global economy whilst remaining true to their roots and tradition.

The theme “Embracing Globalisation, Preserving Tradition” echoes the sentiments of SSF, SMCCI, the Malay/Muslim community and the community at large, where attaining the Olympic dream must be embraced, at the same time, without compromising the heritage of tradition and culture of Silat as a traditional martial art.

CONCLUSION

The SMCCI - SSF Banquet is a major fundraising event for the Federation. The event hopes to garner strong support from the purchases of dinner tables and fuel the Federation with the resources required to carry out its “Silat Goes Global” programme successfully, on its road to the Asian Games, Commonwealth Games and the Olympics.
