Day Of Joy and Celebration

It's the end of Ramadhan, and the start of Hari Raya Eid-ul Fitri. Muslims everywhere the world rejoice for the effort in enduring hunger, thirst and anger during the holy month of Ramadhan. And like Ramadhan, the celebrations in the month of Syawal lasts for 30 days.

Hari Raya began with prayers in the morning. And at the SIngapore Silat Centre of Excellence held these prayers on the morning of 24th October 2006.

Led by National Coach, Bahrul Ulum, the prayers were started at 8:30am. In the congregation were National athletes and coaches. They were joined by members of the public. Altogether, they were about 1000 people praying together. The huge numbers helped to add vibrancy and colour to a beautiful morning. The efforts to sow togetherness during the month of Ramadhan were now bearing fruit.

After prayers, the congregation helped themselves to the simple fare of cakes and drinks.

Together in mind, body , and soul. Athletes, staff, coaches and the public praying together.

The public mixed with the athletes and coaches, taking photos and all. It was like an impromptu meet and greet session!

A visibly delighted national coach, Bahrul Ulum commented, "I am very happy with the number of people that came today. It was an opportunity for the public to get to know more about Singapore Silat Federation, its programs and of course its athletes."

We certainly hope this kind of response continue with the rest of the programs.

From the staff and athletes of Singapore Silat Federation we wish all muslims, Selamat Hari Raya and Maaf Zahir Batin!
