Prodigies off to France led by former world champion

Bon appetit! That's what some of our young athletes will be greeted with when they have their meals next week. 15 of our young ones will compete in the French Junior Silat championship from 27th May to 28th May 2006

The squad will feature athletes from the pioneer batch of silat students from the Singapore School. Leading the squad is former wold champion, Abdul Kadir Ibrahim. Having recently retired due to knee injury, Abdul Kadir is now the Singapore Silat Federation's Junior Elite and Youth Development coach. Assisting him are 2 athletes who are now taking up coaching responsibilities. They are Mohd Asadullah, the 2005 SEA Games bronze medallist for match category, and Sheik Harun, the artistic SEA GAMES silver medallist.
